Who We Are

We are land and home owners who bought property in a pristine area of Colorado, without disclosure by realtors or developers, only to find out that large deposits of low-grade uranium are underneath and around us.

Fremont County Commissioners approved – June 2008 – uranium exploration by an Australian-based company within 500 feet of 44 land and home owners.

Proposed uranium mining will dewater the area and exploration has already devalued our property values.

A call to Fremont County Residents
Wednesday, 10 June 2009

Fremont County Residents,

TAC AND CCAT need your help.  Please review our Petition and help us to take a stand against the refurbishment and reopening of the Cotter Uranium Mill.  We believe – due to the nature of the material – uranium milling and uranium mining are not compatible and harmonious land uses near any residential area; and, therefore, should not be allowed to take place within two (2) miles of any residences.

Uranium exploration amendment on agenda
Monday, 01 June 2009
The following article was in the Canon City Daily Record today.  The article did not exactly represent the proposals that TAC has put forward.  However, it does not change the fact TAC is looking for admendments to the  Fremont County Master Plan.   We encourge all our members that can attend the hearing to do so.

Time for Superfund meeting, informed decisions
Tuesday, 19 May 2009

Fremont County is a very special place to live for more reasons than just our beautiful mountains, wonderful climate and friendly people. We have suffered the consequences of a lawless time in the “wild west” of radioactive materials handling.

Now there is a mad rush to nuclear as our energy answer. Our sleepy, little community is being viewed internationally as a player in a global energy struggle because the Cotter Uranium Processing Mill south of Cañon City is one of only two places where yellowcake could be produced. Yellowcake is needed to fuel nuclear reactors. This radioactive neighbor is upstream, upwind and over the fence and poses problems and issues common to us all.
